David’s personal ethos is one of learning, thinking and evolving – learning from the past, thinking in the present and competitively evolving. He’s passionate about business and openly admits helping business owners realise their potential gets him out of bed in the morning. David is known to initiate robust boardroom discussions that lead to commercial and considered implementation.
Formerly Head of Business Growth – NAB Wealth / MLC, David lead a national team of Business Growth specialists. The team worked collaboratively with wealth management practices nationally. The practices invariably worked outside the MLC network and came to utilize the numerous licensee services. David was focused on aligning a passionate and skilled team, committed to demonstrating advantageous solutions to progressive advice businesses.
Prior to joining MLC, David orchestrated the sale of two private equity management buy ins, and subsequent sales, in both an Executive Search Firm (a BRW National Fast 100 Starter) specialising in wealth management and a Financial Planning Firm. David’s career spans various management roles in the wealth management, property, finance and executive search industries including time as Key Account Manager for global recruitment and search firm TMP Worldwide.
David began his working life in the Australian Army and later earned the coveted green beret with 1 Commando Company, Special Forces. David has a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), is married with two children and co- authored the book, Project Sahara – Pressure Point. This profiles the lead up to the toughest footrace on earth – Le Marathon des Sables—a 248 km self sufficient run across the Sahara Desert. He also finds time to support ‘Room to Read’, a global charity building libraries and reading rooms for children. He also loves spending time on the land.
